Digital immersive learning - a guest blog post

Back in June, me and my colleague, Godson Uma, were invited by the S3 Digital Learning Team, within School of Social Sciences to talk about our immerisve learning work.  As the author, Rose, was new to the topic and learning modality, she suggested they can help provide an entry point for audiences who are also new to it, but curious and somewhat underinformed.

We all met at Clifton Campus on 15 July and answered a variety of questions and reviewed a draft extensively, for it to eventually take form in this blog post published on 3 November 2026; 'Digital immersive learning: How is it used? What are the benefits?'.

Bethany Witham - "Those who need to scaffold learning of skills and behaviours for specific and often challenging circumstances – especially where the professions that students are training for have particularly high stakes – require ways to give their learners authentic ways to practice. It makes sense, then, that immersive learning would be used extensively in teaching of health professions, such as Nursing and Occupational Therapy, but the discussion also highlighted how other disciplines and situations can benefit too."

In our new blog post this week, Rosemary Pearce talked to Daniel Scott-Purdy MSc PGCert SFHEA SCMALT and Godson Uma. MA, MSc, CMALT, PRINCE2® about what #ImmersiveLearning is, the digital tools that can bring it to life, and a few of the great ways it's being used across Nottingham Trent University.
