Today, 1 February 2023 I delivered another #DLTbook talk; Celebrating ‘Digital Learning, Teaching and Assessment for HE and FE Practitioners’. This was originally planned as a Nottingham Trent University's (NTU) School of Social Science Showcase for June 2022 which somehow got missed in the scheduling. So I later pursued for it to be repurposed as part of NTU's Nottingham Institute of Education (NIE)'s Digest Lunchtime Seminars Spring Term 2023. This webinar builds on the structure I set out in 'Online asynchronous learning design using H5P - A #DLTAbook talk'.
"From my 12 years' experience of being a learning technologist, practitioners still need basic introduction and support in the pedagogical application of digital tools and systems - including me. As we know, not everyone starts at the highest digital literacy and skills levels. For example, when first approaching the use of Virtual Reality (VR). There's a lot to consider before implementing, such as pedagogical planning and designing, identifying suitable digital technologies and considering the practitioners and their student's digital confidence and competence and so much more!
In this short presentation I will introduce and celebrate my new publication ‘Digital Learning, Teaching and Assessment for HE and FE Practitioners’. The pandemic clearly highlighted practitioners' digital confidence and competence. Therefore, this book is very much relevant and needed. Additionally current practitioners have ongoing personal confidence and competence barriers with integrating digital and online into their role. As per response to the first edition and my own strong belief, I feel that this book will help practitioners build a positive relationship with digital technology in order to support them in making effective, purposeful and meaningful Technology Enhanced Learning, Teaching and Assessment (TELTA).
I will discuss the rationale behind this accessible, practical, yet theory-based educational guide, and showcase snippets of key content and feedback."
Philip Wood, Professor at the Nottingham Institute of Education (NIE) - "Thanks ever so much for leading the session. Really useful. Hope the book is successful - looks great."
Me - "Thank you Philip, glad it created some discussion too."
