Pathway Leaders: Daniel Scott - Learning Technologist

Invited by Clare Chambers from Global Apprenticeships, on 23 July 2021 we both had an informal chat about the role and career pathways of a learning technologist - details and recording below.

Me - "Had a great informal unscripted chat with Clare Chambers from Work in Apprenticeships about how I got into my first learning technologist role (including some tips) and potential career pathways.  Particularly useful for members who are working in FE and skills sectors or are looking to do a Level 3 apprenticeship in this type of role."

Clare - "Check out our first 'Pathway Leaders' (unscripted) chat with Daniel Scott - fellow Yorkshire native and industry expert in learning technology pathways at Nottingham Trent University.

Pathway Leaders is our series of conversations with experts & programme leaders on how new learning pathways are disrupting educational and recruitment norms in the workplace."

In this unscripted chat we cover:

  • How Daniel got into learning technology as a career
  • What a "learning technologist" does in an organisation
  • Pre-requisite knowledge and skills for becoming a learning technologist
  • Tips for breaking into learning technology roles
  • How to acquire a working knowledge of learning technology tools
  • New apprenticeship/degreeship pathways available in learning technology
  • Advantages of an apprenticeship/degreeship vs traditional degree qualification in learning technology or e-learning"
